Skate Park Refurbishment Oakey Park

RSS-Playmakers were contacted by Durham County Council to give them some advice on the refurbishment of the skate park.  The equipment was over 10 years old and had been removed from an existing site which was being redeveloped.  During the removal the equipment was quite badly damaged and had been stored in the Council depot while it was decided whether it was possible to refurbish and re-use the equipment.

After a careful assessment of the condition of the equipment, RSS-Playmakers proposed a refurbishment procedure which included collecting the equipment and returning it to our Selby manufacturing facility, for refurbishment works, delivery and re-installation at the customer’s new site.   It was important to the customer that the refurbishment was undertaken in the shortest possible timescale and a detailed programme of works and a fixed price cost was agreed.

Repair procedures included repairing broken welds, replacing sections with new steel, straightening damaged parts and repainting.

RSS-Playmakers delivered the equipment back to site on the agreed date.  Once on site, we met with the customer and re-installed the equipment to their exact requirements and then completed an as-built risk assessment.

What a transformation – the skate park is now like new!

The project was completed on time and on budget providing an as-new active play facility for the community thanks to the expertise of RSS-Playmakers and the vision and determination of Durham County Council.
