Skate Park Refurbishment for Runnymede Borough Council Kings Lane Skate Park

RSS Playmakers have recently completed the refurbishment of a half pipe skate ramp in Englefield Green.  This heavily used item of equipment had deteriorated to the point where it had to be closed to the public.  We were approached by Runnymede Borough Council to refurbish the unit as soon as possible.

Chris Dulley, Contracts & Spaces Officer, Runnymede Borough Council said “We initially feared that this piece of equipment was beyond repair.  A new ramp was not affordable within the current budget so this would have left Englefield Green without this popular facility until more funds became available.”

On examination it became apparent that the whole structure was unsafe and required extensive repair works.  RSS Playmakers were able to put together a proposal that restored the unit within the budget available.

The half pipe has now been restored back to as new condition and this popular area is open for the community.  The project was completed in just one week.

Councillor Michael Kusneraitis, Englefield Green West commented  "I am most grateful that this well-used piece of play equipment has been brought back into a nearly new condition.  I have seen that within minutes of this equipment being reopened and available, the word spread like wildfire and the many children from the estate have flocked back to use it!  The refurbishment was carried out at a fraction of the cost of replacing the equipment for the benefit of children from a deprived area.  This shows that even in a time when all councils are tightening their belts we can still provide the facilities that are needed.”

“A great job by all involved, one happy councillor and many happy children. Well done to all involved."
